I MBA ORIENTATION PROGRAM

At NIMS, we welcome the freshers with an orientation program giving them inputs from industry and academic experts and briefing them what is expected out of them to be a successful manager. The current batch had their orientation on 4th September, 2012 and the excerpts from the inputs of the speakers are as below -

Session 1:- Ms.Sundari Ramakrishnan, Asst. Dean, National Management School (9.30am to 11.00am )
Ms. Sundari started the session with a story and the moral of the story is:-

• Treat every customer as the same and do not differentiate between them
• Time is very limited to prove to everyone that you are special so make the most out of it
• Do not worry about the time to work
• Do not require any supervisor , do your job allotted to you perfectly
• And above all do what is close to your heart
DO NOT GET EMPLOYED BUT GET ENGAGED THIS IS WHAT THE INDUSTRY REQUIRES US TO DO.

i. Never question your reward it will automatically come to you
ii. Every day charge yourself be a bundle of energy
iii. If you can’t care for yourself then no one else will do it as perfect as what you can
iv. Always try to be the best

The two important aspects in life is public image and private image

i. Public image is what others think of you
ii. Private image is what you think of your own self
iii. Follow the three important C ‘s in life
• CAPABILITY : intelligent quotient
• CULTURE : the only thing that will come along with you through out
• CREATIVITY :be different and do something differently

Session 2 : Dr. Rajendran, Professor, Department of Management Studies, Anna University (11.30am to 12.45pm)

Dr. Rajendran gave an interesting speech on what is expected out of the students. The main areas he highlighted are as below -

• Plan for your life
• Always be committed in what you do
• Planning is the basic step for management
• Plan for your professional life
• Create interest in what you do
• Be self motivated
• Have a positive attitude towards life
• Develop your intellect
• Acquire functional skills
• Work in a team
• Be a team leader
• Do not have too much of expectations and map yourself
